3. DATA HANDLED LOCALLY ON YOUR DEVICE

All information created through your use of Vious Player is stored only in the secure private storage of your device:


  • Playback History and Resume Points: Stored locally so you can continue watching from where you stopped.
  • Playlists and Favorites: Created and managed locally on your device.
  • App Preferences: Settings such as light or dark theme, playback speed, equalizer presets, subtitle styling, and gesture sensitivity.
  • You can delete this data at any time by clearing the application cache and storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the application.


4. NETWORK STREAMING AND STORAGE CREDENTIALS

If you choose to use network streaming features (such as NAS, SMB, WebDAV, FTP, or direct stream URLs):


  • Any server addresses, usernames, or passwords you provide are saved exclusively on your device.
  • Connections are made directly between your device and your chosen server.
  • We never receive, process, or store your server credentials or streaming contents.

5. DEVICE PERMISSIONS AND WHY THEY ARE NEEDED

Vious Player requests only the permissions necessary for media playback on Android:


  • Storage and Media Access (READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required to scan, index, and play video and audio files from your device and SD card.
  • Internet and Network State (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Required only when you choose to play videos from local network shares (SMB, WebDAV, FTP) or direct stream links.
  • Foreground Service and Notifications (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Required to provide background audio playback and notification controls.
  • Wake Lock (WAKE_LOCK): Keeps your screen turned on while video playback is in progress.
  • Picture-in-Picture: Enables floating video window playback while you use other apps.
